Hollywood Glam
Hey everyone,
I have something retro for you today. We go back in time about 60 years to 1950's Hollywood. The film citadel has influenced and shaped fashion from the beginning. The actors and actresses especially are the ones that inspire. In hairstyling, Hollywood has been, in my opinion, the most influential factor. Let's face it ladies, we all want to look like the stars.
The 1950's are called the Glamorous Years of Hollywood, we often hear of 50's glam looks or glam hairstyles.
Even now the ultimate fashion icons like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh, Ava Gardner and many more continue to inspire.
Today I'm showing you just that! A Glam inspired look that I made using medium-large hair curlers.

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss
Hello everyone,
When it comes to hair colouring the pallet of colours offered by different the manufacturers is immense. We can choose: permanent colours, semi-permanent colours that wash away after 3-4 washes or demi-permanent ones that wash away after 28-30 washes.
If you don't want a major change like going from brunette to blond or you are afraid of the damages that permanent hair colours might do to your hair, the best choice is using a demi-permanent colour. I recommend the Casting Creme Gloss hair colours from L'Oreal Paris. I have been using their products for more than a year and my hair has not suffered damages at all.
I chose a dark red shade, the Black Cherry one or number 360 from the catalogue.
Another benefit is that the demi permanent colours are more natural looking and so, even if we change the hair colour it will still look natural. For darker shades, the colour will persist more. I have my hair dyed every 6 months and it is enough. The difference between the roots and the rest of the hair is barely noticeable.
I hope this post was helpful and if you want to try them out, go ahead and let me know how they worked for you! :D

Curls, curls, curls
It is a generally known fact that we want curls if we have straight hair and we want straight hair if we have curly hair. Fortunately we can have both.
Curls are always in fashion no matter what the catwalk hairstyles dictate. They are elgant and classy.
There are several ways to get curly hair. The easiest way is a curling iron if we are in hurry. The hairspray used together with the curling iron will give you curls that last all day long. Guaranteed!
Another way to get, not curls proper but waves is brading.
The curls below were formed with a round brush and a hair dryer.
Another solution for lasting curls is using hair rollers, like I did here.
The curls above are made using an older technique, curl papers, which are actually shreds of fabric, like the ones in the image below.
Curl away ladies!
A Little Tip
Since it’s summertime, the hair will most like fall victim to intense UV radiation and deterioration. How do we take care of that? We use grandma's hair masks! Why? Because these old simple methods proved time and time again that they work.
Mix an egg or two, depending on your hair length with some olive oil, castor-oil ( which you can get at the local pharmacy, helps if you have hair-loss, a very common occurrence nowadays with all the fumes and pollution-)and some honey. These are the basics but you can make all kinds of variations and add anything you see fit..mash fruit, use camomile, use walnut oil, coconut oil, vitamin A phials if you can get them...anything you want. The local pharmacy should have them. You can put some lemon juice but remember that the acid from the lemon may attack the color if you color your hair. I know these may look strange at first but they make wonders. Keep the mask on for about 4-5 hours. This is perfect for rainy afternoons when you have nothing better to do but stay inside with a good book or a good film. If you want to keep the mask over-night, that's fine. You can put some plastic foil over the pillow or a thick towel to keep the pillow clean.
In my opinion the best treatments are the organic ones. There are so many chemicals that we come in contact with on a daily basis not to mention the ones we use for our hair already so why not try something organic and eco.
Let me know if they work! :D
A Little Bit About My Work
I finished a hairstyling course last year but it all started as a hobby. I believe that hairstyling is an art, one that evolved in time together with all the others. I am interested in historical hairstyles and currently studying the styles of Ancient Rome and Greece, inspired by the TV series Rome and Spartacus. Besides the blood and violence, these shows present the way the ancients dressed and arranged their hair very accurately. I have been inspired by the popular TV series Game of Thrones as well. I have a couple of hairstyles that I did when the GoT muse was with me lol Enjoy and feel free to ask me anything, "hair related"! :)
